  Was it REALLY a Bible Study?

  i've just been reading an email that an ex jw sent to dedpoet recently, and he raised an interesting point, so i though i'd post it (dp emailed him back, and he gave permission).

  i came across your website recently, and as an ex witness living in north derbyshire, i thought i'd share a few thoughts i had recently with you.. like yourself, i joined the jehovahs witnesses in the early 90's, being baptised in 1992 at the district convention (the same one as dp).

  Sounds very non-JW...........Why do I remember doing this dance a JW weddings?

  I remember the hokey pokey at wedding dances also. And then you had to research the hokey pokey origins and it turns out that the origins are sacreligious...now somebody at HQ who monitors these types of sites in order to protect the flock will read your post and they will inform the gb who will madate that there be special talks and articles about the evil hokey pokey dance and people doing it at wedding receptions will end up in jc's and people who used to hokey pokey will deny it ever happened...my God, what have you done?

  My Meeting with the Elders...

  it is most likely still very far away but i wanted to share with you guys one of the things i am thinking about doing when/if i do meet.

  i plan on getting my chl (concealed carry permit)

  then i am going to get a shoulder holster.

  i've gotten lot's of pm's asking me about the proccess that i use to create my glass.... it's kinda weird to walk into my studio and check out where i left off 5 months ago.... instead of asking me what each word means, just google it!...

  Thats really impressive. For what its worth, I can drink from a glass or break glass and thats about it.

  I saw the link to the Clinton library was a Chihuly piece. The University library here has a Chihuly chandelier that the U is quite proud of.

  22*c / 72*f in stornoway, this morning - enough to fry the wings off of midges!

  the beaches in the outer hebrides make it one of the best places on the planet, in good weather.

  unfortunately it isn't often we get a good spell.. how the heck am i going to survive dallas!!!

  I see my status thing went from newbie to junior. I did that in only 1 1/2 years. Is that a record? Do I win a prize? Actually I have a question that will no doubt push me back to the newbie designation. What does "btt" or "bttt" mean? When the answer is revealed I'm sure I'll feel dumb as a rock.

  we would not have given a single serious thought to starting a "bible study" without using that little blue mini-book "the truth that leads to eternal life."

  That reminded me of the last time an elder visited my door (I suspect a family member concerned about me told him where I lived). He offered to help me with a bible study and showed me a copy of whatever book he had as the study aid. I said that I would like to have a bible study but I wanted to use a different book. I went and got a copy of "The Truth That Leads To Eternal Life" and showed it to him. He wasn' interested. How could he not be interested in studying a book called "The TRUTH Book?"

  Actually the whole encounter with that elder was kind of fun. I didn't give a hoot who this guy was and zinged him a couple of times. His wife was with him and he said that she often helped him out in his house remodeling business and she worked "just like one of the guys." I told him that I was impressed at this tidbit and then asked why, if she was just like one of the guys, she couldn't pray in the kingdom hall without covering her head. I then looked at her and asked if she felt less spirtual than a man because she was born with a vagina and not a penis. Right after I used the words vagina and penis the elder said they had to be somewhere else but they would be back again to continue the discussion. That was 5,6,7 years ago and they haven't returned.

  Take the conceal carry class and pay real close attention. If you display the weapon to intimidate and the police are called, you will be the one in trouble. At the very least you will lose your carry permit. I have a carry permit and I ask you not to do this. Your tactic could be used as ammo by the anti-permit people if they find out about it and it would be justified. If you have any doubt that I am correct, ask your conceal carry instructor and be ready for a good ass chewing. A better idea might be for you to just take the class, but don't purchase the weapon until you lose the cavalier attitude. The only time I would consider showing my weapon would be if I felt my life was in imminent danger, not because some "janitors in suits" want to talk to me. If you feel so strongly about not having these people in your house don't let them in. Its really not that complicated.
